Los hermanos de la cometa

Los hermanos de la cometa (The Kite Siblings), an oil on canvas, tenderly conjures the childhood pastimes of yesteryear. The composition depicts the artist himself as a young boy flying a kite near the house with the white tree in the background—a recurring motif throughout his series El tiempo que no está. In the mid-ground, the young girl is the artist’s sister as a child, María Candelaria, watching the kite take flight: a humble treasure crafted by her brother’s own hands and pasted together with that day's boiled potatoes.
